Den Grønne Friskole
Spacial Design project
Tak Studio - 2023
We encountered Den Grønne Friskole at a time when a branch had been closed, consolidating the school's activities on Strandlodsvej in Copenhagen. This resulted in more children and staff sharing the same space than usual, leading to the transformation of existing break and preparation rooms for teachers into new classrooms. The approximately 13 employees shared 2 x 10 square meters for lunch breaks, meetings, recovery, preparation time, and reading groups. One room was intended to provide teachers with time for reflection and rest after long working hours with many children. The other room was designed to create a reading area with space for concentration and ample time. A safe space where children with reading difficulties can learn in peaceful surroundings.
TAK believe that it is in the space between activity and conversations that we feel what resonates within us. Therefore, the break is crucial in terms of how we thrive in our work. Our well-being manifests through our physical and mental health. It is the design and atmosphere of a space that should allow us these breaks.
